The Innovation

The Fantom Doorstop was designed to provide a sleek and functional solution for stopping and holding doors. Unlike traditional doorstops, the Fantom Doorstop is almost entirely hidden from view, offering both aesthetic appeal and practicality. Below is a detailed explanation of the components and how this innovative doorstop operates.

Multi-column

Striker Plate & Magnet

The patented nylon striker plate and N30 neodymium magnet are integral components of the Fantom Doorstop system, designed to enhance both functionality and durability.

Impact Absorption: The primary purpose of the Nylon Striker Plate is to absorb the impact when the floor pin makes contact with the striker plate. This ensures that the magnetic hold is both gentle and secure, preventing any potential damage to the door or floor.

Magnetic Alignment: The Nylon striker secures the N30 magnet inside the door whilst also maintaining alignment between the floor sleeve and pin, ensuring a smooth and efficient operation every time the door is used.

Floor Sleeve & Pin

These two components play a vital role in the doorstop's operation.

The floor sleeve is a cylindrical piece that is embedded into the floor, acting as a housing unit for the metal pin. This sleeve ensures that the pin is securely anchored and flush with the floor surface, providing a clean and unobtrusive appearance. The floor sleeve not only helps in maintaining the aesthetics of the space but also protects the pin from wear and tear, contributing to the durability of the doorstop system.

The magnetised pin is designed to engage smoothly with the striker plate when the door is opened. The pin's precise alignment with the striker plate is crucial for the Fantom Doorstop's functionality. Once the pin is aligned with the magnet housed in the door, it creates a magnetic connection that holds the door securely in place.

functionality

The Fantom Doorstop operates through the use of magnetism that engages as the door is opened, ensuring a seamless and effective door-holding solution.

As you begin to open the door and it is in close proximity to the floor pin, the powerful magnet held within the door attracts the floor pin upwards and into the striker plate.

The magnetic connection between the magnet and the floor pin prevents the door from swinging shut or moving unintentionally, maintaining it steadily in the desired open position.

To close the door, simply apply a gentle force to overcome the magnetic hold. The floor pin will disengage from the striker plate, allowing the door to close smoothly.

measure the gap

Incorrect measurements may lead to improper installation, which can cause damage to both the door and the floor. For example, if the gap exceeds 15mm, it may result in a weakened hold or may not function correctly. We suggest a gap of 5mm-15mm. if the gap is 20mm a 5mm packer can be used to assist in bringing the striker plate down to the correct height.

The Fantom Doorstop relies on precise alignment between the striker plate and the floor pin to function correctly. If the gap is not measured accurately, the pin may not align with the floor plate, causing the doorstop to malfunction. Proper alignment ensures that the magnetic components engage effectively, holding the door securely in place.

Correct installation

When installing the Fantom Doorstop, adhering to the instructions and using the appropriate tools will help to ensure effective operation, maintain safety, and uphold the aesthetic and functional qualities of the doorstop.

Different flooring materials such as hardwood, tile, or carpet require specific tools to prevent damage during the installation process. For instance, drilling into hardwood without the appropriate bit can cause splintering or cracking. Similarly, using incorrect tools on tile can lead to chipping or breaking. It is important to check which tools are required for your installation prior to starting the process.
